With a south-facing garden, abundant period charm and a three storey layout that offers views that stretch down to the sea, this exceptional family home is perfectly placed for some of the city’s most favoured schools.

Within a stroll from all the independent shops and cafes of Fiveways, its impeccable interior blends wood floors, cornicing and heritage tones with a refined sense of style. An exemplary double reception room with a magnificent fireplace is filled with light, a superb modern kitchen has French doors to the garden, and four impressive bedrooms include top floor principal suite with a Juliet balcony. A workshop/studio sits tucked to the rear of the simply idyllic walled rear garden, adding a host of possibilities.

Step Inside – Behind the quintessential period facade an inviting hallway sets the tone for what’s to come enticing you into a spacious double length reception room that instantly lets you know you’ve found somewhere special. Beautifully lit by bay windows, the warming tones of its wood floor stretch out across commendable dimensions to a picture perfect window giving garden vistas. A distinguished fireplace lends a charming focal point to a fantastic sitting room area where cornicing wraps-around the ceiling, and a curved archway gives delineation to a hugely versatile space that can include a formal dining table, play area or home office. The cohesive timber accents continue in the outstanding kitchen where first class cabinetry houses freestanding appliances. A stainless steel butler sink with a spray tap is a considered finishing touch, and French doors tempt you into the south-facing garden from a relaxed dining zone.

The period charm is echoed upstairs where three notable bedrooms pepper the first floor and share a family bathroom. Follow a staircase up to the top floor you’ll find an enviable double aspect principal bedroom with an en suite shower room. Offering views that flow down to the sea, French doors framed by full height windows open onto a Juliet balcony, while eaves add handy hidden storage.

Outside – Combining with the leafy foliage of an attractive walled garden, the bay facade of this Fiveways home conjures a welcoming feel with its covered entrance and the arched windows of its demi-glazed door.

Effortlessly engendering a naturally flowing extension to the ground floor, the French doors of the kitchen make it irresistibly easy to step out into the south-facing garden for al fresco meals. Tastefully landscaped to generate a restful place to unwind in the sunshine, its mature bay tree, Acer and agapanthus add colour and interest from fully stocked flowerbeds, while a superior timber workshop/studio sits to the rear creating a peaceful hideaway.

What the owner says..

This house has been the best possible hub for many aspects of our life since we moved in with a 6 week old baby 18 years ago. Living in such an ideal setting we have enjoyed the Fiveways community life and culture, the walks in Hollingbury Woods and Golf Course and the proximity to the schools, whilst still being close enough to walk into the centre of town.
We have improved the house over the years as carefully and thoughtfully as possible, developing useful spaces such as the loft extension and the garden workshop to maximise family life and appreciating the natural advantages of the south-facing garden and views over the city. We will miss the neighbourliness of Dover Road and being so well positioned for events such as the Artists Open Houses Festival.
